Paramount Television vs Paramount Network

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Paramount Television network is not the same as soon-to-be Paramount Network (which is a new name for Spike), right? I see some new shows, which are supposed to air on Paramount Network in 2018 (after rebranding) are being added to Paramount Television.

Isn’t Paramount Television a production/distribution company, not a broadcasting network? Should it be in the list of networks? The only series it have listed are the series in development, which are supposed to air on Paramount Network (sic Spike) or TV Land. I think people are being confused by the similar names, so if Paramount Television doesn’t have any actual series, should it be here?

Ahh Paramount, you can name things differently you know! :)

There was, many moons ago, an actual network called Paramount Network Television. It was in the 1940s and did create and broadcast content for 15 or so years. So if we ever get back to those older shows, a network called “Paramount Network Television” is a legit network.

Today, Paramount Television is the distribution arm for television programs created by Paramount Studios and distributed to other broadcasters; it is not a broadcast network in its own right. The Paramount Network (formerly Spike) is a broadcast network on US cable. (which is different from the old United Paramount Network (UPN) from the 1990s).

So, no, I don’t think “Paramount Television” should be listed as a network.

My thoughts exactly :)

That’s what happening when you using a new network name in press releases before it became official :)

I’m moving all upcoming series from PT to Spike (we will rename it to PN after rebranding, right?), and PT could be either “rebranded” to Paramount Network Television for the sake of future use, or just deleted.

Hm… What are we doing with http://www.tvmaze.com/shows/19704/christodora? It hasn’t been sold to any network yet, at least I couldn’t find any information, except that “Paramount TV has optioned Tim Murphy’s new novel Christodora for a limited TV series”.

As long as we do not know where it airs, we cannot add it to the site :)

Reading the description for Paramount Television, it states right in the information it’s for the distribution of Paramount content to networks (JDog who wrote it even gave examples!) I wonder if this was created way back when the Maze first started and there was a different idea as to how things would work?

As for the actual Paramount Network Television from the 1940s, I’d say delete for now otherwise it will just confuse people even more. If someone comes along with information on those old shows we can always add it back when there’s some context for users.
