Starring as themselves

I suggest to remove the necessity to enter person's name in the "Character" field when they're starring as themselves. Marking the checkbox should be enough. And leave this as option for appearances like "Host" or "Anchor".

+1 for this. I've also noticed sometimes people had just typed 'Himself' or 'Herself' as the character without checking box.

While we're on the topic. I would like to remind everyone that if a person is playing a fictional version of himself, not to check the checkbox. For example in the show Curb Your Enthusiasm, everything is scripted, therefore no one is really him or herself on that show.

How would this work with cases where people are being themselves but fill a role, like Host/Presenter/Narrator/Judge, etc.

Re-read the last sentence of my post.

What I mean is that if you don't enter anything in the character field and mark the checkbox, the character name would be automatically created from the actor's name.

I agree that the current behavior is not very intuitive, but it's hard to change for architectural reasons. Perhaps some time in the future :)
