If you're meaning how it displays - in my case - Curating (Contributor), then that's an access level, which you can read more about here .
There's no formal process to nominate yourself; every now and then we discuss who we think deserves to be promoted - in this case your actions speak louder than words.

If you participate in the forums, contribute regularly and if you are being nice to others around here, you will have a good chance to being promoted in the future :)
gazza911 seemed to be implying I was doing something wrong when he said " in this case your actions speak louder than words."
I'd like to know what warranted that statement?

The more active you are, the more likely we'll notice your contributions and consider you for a promotion.
Asking for a promotion doesn't mean you're more likely to get it.
Note: I wasn't referring to your actions in particular, just that the phrase is true when it comes to this.

I wasn't asking for anything like that at all and was asking about https://static.tvmaze.com/images/badges/12.png
I apparently had gotten confused and in actual fact I have 720 contributions in my Stats.
You sir are wrong in your assumption of that which I was asking.

Right okay. Sorry, I misunderstood what you were asking.
Yeah, some types of contributions (i.e creating an episode) will give more than 1 contribution point, but the achievement is based on the number of contributions.

Oh lol, seems we all misunderstood each other, no worries tho :)
I guess you most likely found why you did not unlock that badge as you are required to do 1000 separate edits (while you're currently on +/- 720 edits). The contributor points (2679) are most likely an indication to you and us what kind of edits you are doing. More important edits will be awarded with more contributor points.
I hope this mystery is solved for you now Sir :)

Perhaps a more accurate statement would be "in these cases, actions speak louder than words." ... removing, IMHO, any chance someone thinks you mean them specifically rather than as a generic, general rule of thumb.
I have 2906 points but unlocked no contributor badge

The Contributor badge means "Contribute with an edit that adds information to our database, or fixes an error."
There's not a single edit made by you, only a requests for the new shows. I suppose that those points do not give you an actual "edit points".
Tnt is correct, the badge system currently only looks at edits, not at requests.
Too bad, imo making requests is contributing too.

Try to compare the time needed to fill the request and to fulfill it :D
I guess it depends how the request is made, it can be time consuming too.
No biggie anyway.
One way you could get started is to look over the requests once they're approved and see if something is missing. Cast members, episode descriptions, etc.
