Big Hero 6: The Series

Big Hero 6: The Series (https://www.tvmaze.com/shows/21142/big-hero-6-the-series)

The double length first episode _may_ become a topic in the next while as new episodes appear, in some sources, to start numbering at episode 3 rather than 2.

For what it is worth, my copy of S01E01 has a single open & single end credits and runs 42+ minutes. Wikipedia & The Disney Wiki both, currently, agree with TVMaze numbering.

Just a heads up.

Well, Disney's own press release calling it a one-hour primetime television movie, “Baymax Returns”

The fact that they decided later to list it as two-parter doesn't change anything – it was intended as a one-hour, and broadcasted as such, and according to TVmaze policy Rewriting history after an episode has premiered is never accepted.

So there's no reason to split it up. But again, there's always people who just know better )))

But didn't it premiere as part of the current season?

It (S01E01) aired last November with the series picking up again this weekend airing 4 episodes S01E02 to S01E05. This is, as far as I can see/tell, an accurate numbering.

There are some sources who have labeled S01E01 as two episodes thus throwing off the numbering. That is, as far as I can see/tell and according to tnt above, inaccurate.

Given the differences I just wanted to toss out a heads-up incase it became an issue ... figured why have others spend time trying to figure out what was what when what is what is already know/settled.

I would either keep this as s01e01 or as a special, not sure yet.

Disney themselves adding to this mess, because on their press site this episode is listed now as episodes S01E04+S01E05. Back in the last November it was listed as a single episode.

I gave it some thoughts awhile back, when the rest of the episodes was announced. But since it was never called a special, and premiering the series with a pilot movie is not a rare thing, IMO it should stay as a regular episode.

Numbers on DisneyABCPress are just the production codes. They don't count as the episode numbers. E.g. on futoncritic, Baymax Returns is listed as 104 too. But it is still the first on the list, meaning episode one.

That can be confusing to someone coming in new who doesn't understand TVMaze numbering is based on air dates ... but that can be an ongoing problem for a number of series across many networks/channels. The big take away from the Disney post, as tnt notes, is they have now split the first episode into 2 episodes ... likely because going forward they will split the episode into 2 for broadcast purposes ... and thus the conflicting numbers problem.
