It may be wishful thinking, but it would be fantastic if some more of the lost 106 97 episodes were found. Time to dig through those attics, basements, garages, storage lockers or libraries ... especially if you or a family member had a connection with the BBC or other broadcaster who aired Doctor Who back in the day. If they've been found in Ethiopia & Cyprus, they could be literally almost anywhere on the planet.

Ahh the "in the hands of personal collectors" story, always a good one. There have been rumors about one person or another (Ian Levine is always a good target) hoarding episodes and keeping them out of the hands of the restoration teams for years. It wouldn't surprise me if a few are still out there in private collections, but these days collectors *know* there are folks looking for lost Doctor Who, Avengers, ZCars, Dad's Army, and whatnot. What always gives me a tickle are the bits we have from lost episodes that were cut by the Aussies back in the day as too violent or risque for viewers ... when there's nothing violent or otherwise about it. LOL.

I'm always more hopeful of finds from the owner who doesn't know they have them rather than the twisted collector who wants to keep them all to themselves. They've managed to locate at least 9 over the years ... fingers crossed they keep diggin' them up.

Most of what's been found recently has been in backwater TV stations across parts of Africa. I'd say that's where the most hope lies these days. There's also the persistent rumor that Marco Polo was discovered in the same cache that had Enemy of the World and Web of Fear, but there's some problem getting it released. Take that for the wooden nickel it probably is. :)
