Could not parse image.

I frequently get this error when I paste a valid image URL into the field called Upload Url. This has been going on for months. Some URLs work while others don't. Instagram URLs never work but the problem is not limited to Instagram.

In the past I sometimes would be able to upload the image anyway. Probably because the problem was limited to JavaScript's retrieval of the image. But this no longer works.

The server error message for failure to upload an image from Instagram is 504 Gateway Time-out. Other servers give me Could not retrieve image from URL.

Can you give an example of a URL that's giving this problem? It's probably the target server blocking us from downloading.

I know some British newspapers definately block images from even been downloaded. So that may be why the Mirror.co.uk image won't work.

What HTTP headers do you send with the image requests? Sometimes adding a simple Accept: image/* header can be helpful.

Yeah, so our server can't even make a connection to theirs. They probably block all non-residential IP addresses in their firewall. You'll have to download and manually upload in these scenario's..
