I just have never fully engaged with the series (Annika)
Brit, you are one smart cookie. I watched to the end on Passport, and anyone who is watching this series ---------- please tell me what I just saw.

Deedee, I haven't jumped back in as yet - kinda of steeling myself for the episode after the "big boom".
Mine is adversarial, which makes it worse. But our Little Miss or her feline sibling??? I am very much hoping it isn't serious?
Oh, Dee, I knew what you meant. I have another sister and a brother, besides my youngest sister... I won't go as far as to say adversarial, but they tiptoe on the border. Nay, upon thinking about it, it didn't border, it was adversarial. My stress level with them all the time my (youngest) sister was in the hospital and rehab was to the max, they always seemed to find a way to makes things worse, not better. I needed my sister to get better just so I could survive them.
Miss B. was having some eye issues, which due to her age can be very concerning. Rabbits (many times) get bad cataracts when they get older that leads to blindness. She will be eight years old this December, so we are moving in to the senior years and I want the best possible life for her as she ages - so I stay on top of it. Besides the eye problems, painful arthritis is also common. I saw an issue with her eye and got her in to the vet ASAP and we were able to get it corrected before it became painful and led to other problems. She was on meds for a week after an eye procedure, all is (TG) back to normal. It will most likely have to be done again periodically. I will stay vigilant so that we keep her eyes in the best of health.
Solar, " this last episode of "World on Fire" was so intense! Wow, I spent more time FF to make sure everyone was okay - and then going back and calmly watching for content this episode then any other. Action going on everywhere! And... Robina really lost it big time - the green eyed monster took over and she crossed the line.
She is really a piece of work. Looks like from the promos for next week she will still be in rare form. She's an interesting character, she does good things, but never for the right reasons - she gets there eventually, but it is always an uphill battle with her.
Yes Brit .... World on Fire is intense . I notice the violence now , that I didn't before you mentioned it. It fits into the story thou and feel it's not gratuitous. I could never understand the appeal of Bruce Willis who became a very successful highly paid actor making movies where something ( anything ) was blown up every 5 minutes just for the sake of a lot of noise and flash . I guess that passes for entertainment. Its the story lines that drew me in and hold me . Poor Kasia is so torn up about what to do about that Polish lady she feels is not a spy but could she be wrong ? .. next Sunday will tell. Didn't see Lois in this ep. but see she is in the next. You said it , that Robina is a piece of work. I grit my teeth every scene she's in. She gets everything wrong ... I CAN'T STAND IT LOL Seriously , Sir James better watch those lawn picnics with her .

Afraid ta watch next ep. dee ... don't know what to expect . lol

Solar, for me, the state of the world - the fact that here we are fighting the same battles and watching the horror of it in real time, is what made me take a huge gulp in watching "World on Fire". As I said in my comment above, we humans never learn. But, when you said it was a different time, I realized that I should compartmentalize it and that is what I did, which helped me to continue on. That and the FF feature.
Yes Brit .... the FF feature , what would we do without it . lol
Solar, strong, strong "World on Fire" episode this week - compelling and very well done. Mark Bonnar was excellent, such a good addition to the cast. Like Helen Hunt, I am afraid he will be gone next season which would be a shame.
Can you please tell me what the hell is wrong with Robina?? Just when you think she can fall no lower, she does. Threatening Kasia with throwing out Jan (Kasia herself could care less - she would leave in a heartbeat if she could) is despicable. I've given her slack before, but she'll never come back from that one for me. Permanently tainted with a black heart.
Brit, sounds like World on Fire is a tough watch.
solar, apparently I saw what I saw! Don't know when, but at least there will be a season 3 of Annika. Lots of soap, and McGann can hit the bricks, but I can watch Nicola read the phone book. *wait, what's a phone book?
PBS Reel 13 was still the best of the week, for me. Their main was As Far As I Can Walk, which they list as "It is a modern reimagining of Strahinja Banović, a hero of medieval Serbian epic poetry, that follows a young Ghanaian couple living as refugees in Belgrade." The second lead from Around the World with David Tennant played the protagonist.

Yes Brit .. she IS a piece of work . Thought there was some redemption in her for a faint moment but it was quickly dashed . Get ready for another clash next Ep. when Lois comes home .

dee .. try finding a phone booth that goes with that phone book. The worlds a changin' . lol
London still has phone booths! Those iconic red ones - although I am not sure they are still functional.
Solar, I had a feeling right from the beginning of the episode that Harry's friend was not going to make it. I don't know why, but I did, and unfortunately it happened.
Yea, I saw the preview with Robina going after her next target. If Harry allows her to shut Lois out, I am done with him as well. You would think he would intercede, but I find him somewhat spineless when it comes to her, so I am not sure what he will do.
Deedee, this was the toughest episode of the series so far, but when something is done well, grabs you, and holds your attention, you continue. I FF at times, then I went back and made sure I watched every frame. I was that drawn in.
PBS Reel 13 was still the best of the week, for me.
Isn't it great when you find these gems on PBS!
Okay, I am going back in for the finale of "Annika". Wasn't interested in seeing the personal drama of the last two episodes, I do want to see how the season ends though. (So I know where the story is going as I'll start the next season only to, once again, give it up midway at some point.)
What Is next on PBS?? I am trying to find the correct schedule and can't seem to find it.

Glad ta hear it Brit .... Superman still has a place to change . Often thought that Harry was just so used to Robina's way , he just mentally shuts down to avoid another clash . Vera belongs to Lois and Robina is the grand mother but that won't stop her form trying to have her way , Harry's reaction will be interesting .

My take on this past episode of World on Fire, I think Robina is, and always will be, the controller of all she surveys. She is missing people in her life - Lois's father, Lois and Harry. She knows that Kasia would never endanger her younger brother, so she is using that to her advantage to stop Kasia from leaving. Also, throw in the jealousy as was seen at the tea table, that's the perfect way to limit her contact with Sir James.
And now Lois is to return to reclaim the baby? hmmmm
I do have a question though, did anyone else think that the Aryan father of the baby would turn out to be the son of the unfortunate German family that was Helen Hunts's neighbor in season1??
Good question appara ....... but I don't have an answer for ya . lol
Appara, that thought did not come to my mind - good question though!
Deedee, I finished the forth season of "The Bay" last week. I watched two episodes a night and that was just perfect to keep the flow going. I don't know why I stayed away, it wasn't bad at all (I read so many negative reviews) - was it great, no, but certainly kept my interest and I wanted to see it through to the end. Not everything can be stellar, sometimes "good" is just right.
Can't say I like any of the characters, none are the warm and fuzzy type... and nothing has been as good as the first season - that was the best, but this particular story was intriguing. That's what really kept my interest.
I was totally surprised that the Chief started back with his ex - what happened to the new girlfriend from last season? He left his wife for her didn't he? Where did she go? And, I thought the (ex) wife had long (ago) had enough of him. Made little sense under those circumstances (they both were happy to move on at that time) to see them back together.
Then, once things got hot and heavy - talk of a new life together - he throws her to the wind out of the blue!! What!? Flakey as all get up.
Apparently, S5 has been commissioned, so they saga continues.
Whew! Finished up with the finale of Annika, and all I can say is they best be starting to film another season. Little did she know that a pot plant might well have been a better gift! Hope you all enjoyed this series as much as I did!!
Yes appara ... bring on another season . That was quite a bomb Morgan dropped at the supper table . Easy to choke if your in mid swallow. Didn't care for Annika's father . Lot more to his story I think and I don't believe it's good . All for next season.
' World on Fire ' was action packed again. Robina was her ol' predictable self. Her need to control everything and fit people into her little slot pattern . Sir James had a lucky escape in my opinion , from that Robina nightmare although I don't think he realizes it thou. That fade out with Kasia parachuting into dark Poland was sad , really ... don't think she will survive the war. What's next ??? ..... All Creatures ... starts Jan. 7 .
Brit dee ... Happy Thanksgiving ... When ya get a minute send up some turkey .... knife and fork ready . lol
