Significant/Insignificant Specials

Nivekolsen posted 2 years ago

Hi, I've seen you update a few of the web specials on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, according to tvmaze policy: https://www.tvmaze.com/faq/15/episodes

"If the episode has the same premise (for scripted shows, a scripted episode; or for reality shows, a reality episode containing predominantly new footage) as regular episodes on the show, it should be marked as Significant Special."

The episode you edited today has the same premise as any regular episode of Last Week Tonight, and should therefor be marked as significant.

How does this "contain predominantly new footage"?  Duck Stamps was in the last regular episode.

Also "Insignificant specials are only allowed if their length is at least 50% the length of regular episodes" so how does a 4 minute (Web Exclusive) count as significant?  I would have thought the requirements for significant would be more restrictive, not less.

I don't have access to the regular episodes, if it was in the last episode - then yes, it should be insignificant! I apologize.

"Insignificant specials are only allowed if their length is at least 50% the length of regular episodes" only matters for insignificant specials, if an insignificant special is less than 50% of the regular length, it's not allowed. A significant special is allowed regardless of the length.

Again, I apologize - I didn't realise it had already aired in the original episode.
