Adding shows

nickodemos wrote 8 years ago: 1

In trying to add a show I was blocked saying that the IMDB tt0167720 was already in use and yet the show is not on site. Tried to search for the name of the show and tried using the IMDB ID to search. I have no way of knowing which show is using this ID since nothing comes up.

So the suggestion is that if a show ID is saying it is already in use can we have the page show what is using this? As of right now I am not sure if a show is pending/rejected/or wrongfully using the IMDB ID. As you can see below nothing is given and since the show does not show up I can not add cast to the site.

Can you be more specific about what show you are referring to please? Thanks!

Thanks. Looks like the written Seven was not showing.

Now the question is which is the correct way since it is always shown both ways and yet at IMDB and Facebook it is the written Seven Days.

Seven days is the correct one, 7 days is the accepted one. They should add "seven days" so that it shows in searches though. If you look at the poster it has both, but that's marketing so it's not a verifiable source by itself.

added as an aka, searching for 'seven days' should work now. ;)

I don't know if I'm misunderstanding, but I think what nickodemos was suggesting was where it says: IMDB ID "tt0167720" has already been taken, that a link to the show page on TVMaze should also be provided; http://www.tvmaze.com/shows/1304/7-days, for example:

IMDB ID "tt0167720" has already been taken. You can find it here.

You could find those episodes by using our API;

Show Lookup
If you already know a show's tvrage, thetvdb or IMDB ID, you can use this endpoint to find this exact show on TVmaze. If the given ID can be matched, a HTTP 302 redirect to the show's URL will be returned. Otherwise, a HTTP 404 is sent.

URL: /lookup/shows?tvrage=:id or /lookup/shows?thetvdb=:id
Example: http://api.tvmaze.com/lookup/shows?tvrage=24493
Example: http://api.tvmaze.com/lookup/shows?thetvdb=81189
Example: http://api.tvmaze.com/lookup/shows?imdb=tt0944947

Yes, you can. But you shouldn't really need to.

As gazza911 said it would be nice to have it give the link to the show that the other site ID is showing to help give a solid confirmation. Then a person who is adding things can then verify that it is the correct show and possibly update some things since they were already looking to add it.

Can you please add the Australian show Water Rats? It was on channel 9 network from Feb 96 to Aug 01

Linking to the duplicated show in the error message sounds like a good idea. Will look into it!
