Official website have separate pages for both series.

It's hard to be absolutely sure before the series premiere, but I suppose the separate pages means the new show will have episodes starting from season 1, hence it can't be considered a continuation (by policy).

So to me the situation looks the same as with https://www.tvmaze.com/shows/20412/the-young-pope and https://www.tvmaze.com/shows/41210/the-new-pope. Despite having continuous story and the same cast, the network decided to treat sequel as a new show, rather than a new season.
