Ratings Roundup for the Week of January 29, 2023

NBC had a busy week last week. The network handed out renewals to Night Court, no surprise, and La Brea. The network also announced that the upcoming tenth season of The Blacklist will be the last. La Brea returned last week with its first episodes since November. Viewers must have forgotten about the show as the back-to-back episodes were down about a million viewers each. Night Court slipped four hundred thousand viewers. American Auto managed to hold most of its premiere audience, only losing one hundred thousand viewers. Lopez vs Lopez and Young Rock were steady at their regular lows.

ABC wrapped the first season of Celebrity Jeopardy last week. The game show should be renewed. The Rookie and The Rookie: Feds each picked up four hundred thousand viewers. With the shift to Tuesday night, both shows should be renewed. The Good Doctor was up one hundred thousand viewers. ABC has a spin-off planned for The Good Doctor, so chances are, the show will get one more season to launch the new show. Will Trent was up two hundred thousand viewers and will probably be renewed.

FOX gave The Cleaning Lady a third season renewal last week. Fans should not expect an automatic fourth season renewal, however as the show runs short seasons. FOX preempted Fantasy Island for a retrospective on Lisa Marie Presley. Alert: Missing Persons Unit benefitted from the change, it was up three hundred thousand viewers. Accused and 9-1-1: Lone Star each held their premiere audience, picking up one hundred thousand viewers.  Welcome to Flatch lost one hundred thousand viewers for its finale. It's hard to see why the network would renew the show for a third season.

The CW announced the layoffs of several senior execs from its scripted programs division last week. This is not good news for anyone who is a fan of the current slate of shows, and is more evidence that a major shake-up is coming for the network. Fans should brace for another bloodbath of cancellations in the spring. The Winchesters lost one hundred thousand viewers last week. All American: Homecoming was up one hundred thousand viewers. All American and Penn & Teller: Fool Us were even.
