Ratings Roundup for the Week of March 5, 2023

The CW wrapped The Winchesters and Kung Fu last week. Even a cameo by Jenson Ackles wasn't enough to pull up The Winchester's ratings. The freshman series lost one hundred thousand viewers. Kung Fu wrapped its third season even with the previous week. With the state of things at NexStar, chances are both shows will likely be cancelled. With All American still airing repeats, The Flash took the top spot on the ratings chart again last week, though it was down one hundred thousand viewers.

CBS ran a lot of repeats last week. Fire Country was down four hundred thousand viewers. SWAT was up two hundred thousand viewers. East New York and So Help Me Todd were both even. Blue Bloods lost half a million viewers from the previous week. Neither SWAT nor Blue Bloods has made any sort of renewal announcement yet. Assuming contracts can get worked out, both shows should be renewed. True Lies dropped six hundred thousand viewers off its premiere and is likely done. A reminder that March Madness begins this week. The NCAA tournament will skew schedules for the next several weeks, especially for the Friday night shows.

NBC premiered The Voice and That's My Jam last week. The Voice was up compared to where it ended in December. That's My Jam was even with where it ended in January of last year. Night Court picked up three hundred thousand viewers and appears to have stabilised. American Auto was up four hundred thousand viewers. Compared to every other half-hour comedy on the network, it will likely be renewed. Quantum Leap was up two hundred thousand viewers. Good news for any Grand Crew fans, the show managed to hold its premiere numbers, however, with barely one million viewers, it's just playing out the side at this point. Lopez vs Lopez was steady but low. Its chances for renewal are slim.

FOX premiered its latest competition series, Farmer Wants A Wife, last week. This is the second time a network in the US has tried this particular version of a dating show. It opened well enough, but time will tell if it has any legs (this time). Animal Control dropped two hundred thousand viewers it couldn't afford. Call Me Kat was even. Accused and 9-1-1: Lone Star each picked up half a million viewers. 9-1-1 returned with its first new episode since November 2022, down one hundred thousand viewers.

I fear, just like in the old days, QL is a perpetual bubble show. Not a breakout hit, but good enough to limp along. So it's going to keep fans on the edge of their seat year after year to know if it will be renewed.
