Mark Withers was an American actor, best known for his roles on television. He portrayed Ted Dinard, the ill-fated boyfriend of Steven Carrington (played by Al Corley) during the 1981 first season of the prime time soap opera Dynasty.
Withers was born on June 25, 1947, in Binghamton, New York. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in acting and directing from California State University, Los Angeles, and a Master of Fine Arts from Minnesota State University, Mankato.
Long before he had a SAG card or starred in any shows, he was an accomplished athlete who earned an NCAA football scholarship to Penn State University.
Withers began his acting career starring in a national campaign for McDonald's after being discovered by an agent. He also went on to star in national spots for major brands like American Airlines, Crest Tartar Control, Folger's Coffee, Irish Spring, Lincoln Mercury, and Sears.
In addition to his role in Dynasty, Withers had guest appearances on Wonder Woman, Kaz, Trapper John, M.D., The Greatest American Hero, Magnum, P.I., The Dukes of Hazzard, Hart to Hart, Santa Barbara, Remington Steele, Hill Street Blues, Days of Our Lives, Dallas, L.A. Law, Matlock, Frasier, and The King of Queens.
In recent years, he continued his television career with roles in Criminal Minds, Drop Dead Diva, True Blood, Castle, Reckless, Stranger Things, and Sense8.
He also had various roles in production on films like Basic Training, The Ultimate Life, Turn Around Jake, and Bolden.
Withers died of pancreatic cancer on November 22, 2024, in Glendora, California, at the age of 77.
