Born in Chicago, Illinois, Gerald Castillo studied acting at the Goodman Theater, performing on stages around the country. Fellow actor Sherman Hemsley convinced him to move to Los Angeles and pursue a film and television career. Early 1978 credits show him in an episode of What Really Happened to the Class of '65 and in an episode of The Jeffersons.
Gerald Castillo died at his home in Houston at the age of 90.
