Born in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, Barbara Bosson moved to New York City to pursue an acting career, landing a place at Carnegie Tech at the age of 26. In 1968 she played the uncredited role of a nurse in the film Bullitt, and made guest appearances, and has writing credits in The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. It was in 1981 that she landed the regular role of Fay Furillo in the critically acclaimed police drama Hill Street Blues.
