Corey Hawkins

Corey Hawkins is an American actor and producer who earned fame for portraying Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet, Andre "Dr. Dre" Young in the movie Straight Outta Compton, and Heath in the TV series The Walking Dead. He is also an accomplished singer. Born in Washington, D.C., the USA, Hawkins studied at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts before attending the Juilliard School in New York City, where he was part of the Drama Division's Group 40. After he graduated, he started acting in off-Broadway productions. One of his earliest performances was as Buggy in Signature Theatre Company's production of Hurt Village in 2011. He made his screen debut in the short film Empire Corner. His cinematic debut came in 2012 in the dramatic thriller Allegiance. For his performance as Dr. Dre, he was nominated for a SAG Award among others and won the Hollywood Breakout Ensemble Award in 2015. Hawkins received a Tony nomination for Best Actor in a Play in 2017 for Six Degrees of Separation.
