Well said. I do think by the end of the season they raised the bar some. Whether retconning to c.y.a. as writers or that was the master plan who knows? I like the series though so will wait with baited breath for Season 2.

Yeah, I'll tune in for (as yet unannounced, or I may be wrong) Season 2 as I love the Alien franchise and live in eternal hope.
But another big issue in today's world is the massive gaps between TV show seasons.
I mean, we may be into 2027 before we see any more of this show...in fact I'd be shocked if that were not at least the case.

Yeah, the show is so very badly written in places.
Things happen just so the plot can go on, not for any logical reasons.
Like, it's a multi-billion dollar facility, yet the Android has a child (in an adult's body) go work in the HIGHLY DANGEROUS labs on his own.  Just hack away there and see how you get on!
Fully un-supervised.
It's nonsnese but the writers were like - "we need these things to happen to progress the story".  It's shoddy in the extreme.
And lazy.
Allegedly smart people doing absudly stupid things to progress the story is never a good look...dreadful stuff.

It's a shame really as the atmosphere, visuals, audio etc. are excellent.,
But bad writing can take down the best of shows (I'm looking at you, GoT).

This show started weird, had a lot of promise in the middle episodes and then devolved into Lord of the Flies ... I see zero relevance at this point as a "prequel series" to the original Alien.

Yeah, if U wanna make a show about dying children being saved by putting them in adult synthetic bodies, then make that show.
But why it's "Alien" is a serious question.

And as for Wendy having a Deus Ex Machina special ability with all tech, sweet jeebus, does nobody in the writing room call nonsense on this crap?

Finally the titular Alien itself - a mockery of what Ridley Scott and James Cameron gave us.
