Well said. I do think by the end of the season they raised the bar some. Whether retconning to c.y.a. as writers or that was the master plan who knows? I like the series though so will wait with baited breath for Season 2.

Yeah, I'll tune in for (as yet unannounced, or I may be wrong) Season 2 as I love the Alien franchise and live in eternal hope.
But another big issue in today's world is the massive gaps between TV show seasons.
I mean, we may be into 2027 before we see any more of this show...in fact I'd be shocked if that were not at least the case.

Yeah, the show is so very badly written in places.
Things happen just so the plot can go on, not for any logical reasons.
Like, it's a multi-billion dollar facility, yet the Android has a child (in an adult's body) go work in the HIGHLY DANGEROUS labs on his own.  Just hack away there and see how you get on!
Fully un-supervised.
It's nonsnese but the writers were like - "we need these things to happen to progress the story".  It's shoddy in the extreme.
And lazy.
Allegedly smart people doing absudly stupid things to progress the story is never a good look...dreadful stuff.

It's a shame really as the atmosphere, visuals, audio etc. are excellent.,
But bad writing can take down the best of shows (I'm looking at you, GoT).

You are spot on. I think the writing is taking a turn for better. Last episode rocked.

So still loving it. In this episode there were a couple of "suspension of disbelief" breakers. I tried, I really did. But just couldn't overlook.

So this, "kid genius" as is clear engineered the ship going into his fifedom. So he could collect the bio specimens. Yet he did not prepare for containment.

1. Each containment space should be contained within a container within a container with fully enclosed positive or negative pressure containment as for air flow also. Each containment space should have pressure airlocks to get to the container within and the next stage in also. With computers recording and monitoring both video and sound each entry and exit of anyone. With A.I. monitoring ready to sound alarms if need be.

2. Also BIG FUCKIN ROUND RED BUTTONS would be everywhere to sound the alarm with. So say that one scientist was banished but found the kid and was trying to save him yet ran in fear to a... Phone!?? A princess wall phone?? Circa 1975!?? And NO PANIC BUTTONS!?? Yeah that really broke my belief.

So don't watch the original movie, because then you won't be able to sleep ever again
