Star Trek: Starfleet Academy is set in the 32nd century, a time period in the far-future of the Star Trek franchise where Starfleet and the United Federation of Planets are recovering from a cataclysmic event, as depicted in Star Trek: Discovery. It introduces viewers to a young group of cadets who come together to pursue a common dream of hope and optimism. Under the watchful and demanding eyes of their instructors, they discover what it takes to become Starfleet officers as they navigate blossoming friendships, explosive rivalries, first loves and a new enemy that threatens both the Academy and the Federation itself.

I've been enjoying the new so far. The hate mongers need to grow up and finally realize 35 year Shatner can't come back and Roddenberry has written his last episode. Watch an episode of season 1 of TNG, then an episode od season 3. They are 2 very different shows. Rewatch TOS while you're at it. The aching and special effects weren't great even by 1960s standards.Bdcause of you no one now can get into a show. TNG took 2 full seasons to hit it's stride. that's 48 episodes, or 5 to 10 seasons today!
Every two years or so, I rewatch all the Star Trek live action series from TNG onwards. And it's my opinion that the first seasons aren't usually the greatest, compared to the later seasons of the various franchises. So I have good hopes that it will get better. For now I have given it a 7, but it certainly has potential for growth.
