Endeavour Series 4 Eps. 3 and 4 summary.

tnt wrote 8 years ago: 1

Official synopsis for episodes 3 and 4 are released, but restricted from use until January 17th and 24th respectively.

I quote press-release: "The information contained herein is embargoed from press use, commercial and non-commercial reproduction and sharing into the public domain until Tuesday 17 January 2017" (Tuesday 24 January 2017).

I think we should respect such limitations to avoid potential copyright issues.

Interesting. There must be something major happening plot-wise on the show.

Actually ITV have this kind of disclaimer in all of their press-releases. Usually the information can be shared in about 5-7 days before broadcast.

It just seems that nobody paid attention to it before. Should we?

We never have in the past. If they don't want stuff public, they shouldn't post it on a public website, imo

That doesn't put this information in public domain.

Copyright policy states: "In practice this means that we only allow content that.. has been released under a license that permits redistribution, such as CC-BY"

This information has other kind of license limitations, so I think it'll be good to know the official TVMaze position on this matter.

It's not a matter of copyright, but them forbidding people from using it via a public request. ("embargo")

It's unlikely they would sue TVMaze over its use. However, they would be more likely to not put it up for anyone in future.

Should TVMaze pay attention to it? From a legal standpoint, it's probably not necessary. From a matter of respecting ITV's request, yes. If you want to ensure that they continue putting future information up, probably.

we used itv press for years on rage and now here too with no copyright issues.

If a network shares a press release to us in private, like via email, we should definitely respect an embargo.

When they put it on a publicly accessible website, I'm not sure what to make of it. Kind of pointless to embargo something that's already public, no?

It's beyond my apprehension also. But I do know, that making information public doesn't put this information in public domain (i.e. it doesn't mean, that you can do with it whatever you want, legally speaking).

Anyway, I'm not a lawyer not TV producer, so i just wanted to know, if it's ok to use those press-releases, and what do other people think on this matter. If there was no problem with it before, there's no reasons not to use it henceforth.

Thanks, guys, for clearing things out.
