Doctor Who 1st series

Would there be any objection to changing the name of the original Doctor Who series to "Doctor Who (1963)? to differentiate it from the newer continuation of the series? I do not know if this is happening to anyone but me, but when I go into my "Followed" listing, one time the 1963 Doctor Who will be first when I go to get into the episodes and the next time the newer Doctor Who (2005) run will be first in my Followed listing.

The usual answer to this is it's not allowed as the year was not part of the original title. The same problem will exist for Hawai'i Five O and MacGyver, just to name a couple more potential conflicts.

If that is the case, a suggestion is for the followed list ordering is to have the routines check the year of the program, mabye using the 1st seasons year after the alphabetizing of the list when it presents the alphabetized order. I don't know why the program for 1963's run will sometimes present itself first and then other times not.

If TVMaze is going to differentiate shows with the same name, it would probably have to differentiate actors with the same name for consistency, too. My understanding is that they don't plan to do that.

I was just interested in the older version of the show coming up first on the list consistently. Not really interested in any differentiation other than that. Sometimes it comes up first on the followed list other times it comes up 2nd. Means when I go in to mark a episode as watched, I sometimes have to go back and load the other one to get to the correct episode. I am just guessing that others have this issue with more than 1 program with the same name as well.

Actually they're already doing it (in the search results at least) exactly by adding a (year) to the name, if the actor's birthday is entered.

Indeed adding years to a show's name is not allowed. The order of a list should be consistent though, which page of followed shows do you mean specifically?

The system does that as part of that particular search function. If you search from the cast adding page, it (usually) shows shows that they've been in, if there's more than one.

In neither case is the year part of the show/actor name.

The list of shows I am following. I always have mine alphabetized and sometimes the Doctor Who from 1963 will be the 1st Doctor Who that shows up on the list 1st out of the 2 Doctor Who's and sometimes it will be the 2nd one.

Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency Doctor Who Sci-Fi Doctor Who Sci-Fi Dollhouse Dominion Fantasy Horror Dragon Ball Anime DreamWorks Dragons Animated DuckTales Durarara!! Anime Earth: Final Conflict Sci-Fi

Here is small section of my followed list, currently on this tab the # 2 Doctor Who (which is currently # 72 on my actual followed list) is the Classic Doctor Who which aired from 1963-1989 when I load it in a new tab. It may be this way for 3-4 loads then another time, when I close my followed list tab on Firefox and completely reload the 1st Doctor Who program name that shows up it will be the 2005 series instead.

In neither case is the year part of the show/actor name.

Also, the fact that the system does it mean that it's applied consistently. Otherwise some contributors would use (I), some would use (1), and some would use (19##) for birthdate.
