Just as a note, the schedule for this is all over the place. NBC has preempted it twice and rearranged the episode ordering at least as often.

Apologies if anyone is locked out.

Yeah, apparently they trying to make it better :D

I suspect it's more a conflict between the creators who want it to have some kind of continuity, and execs at NBC who have no idea what goes on

The only reason they aired last night's episode--which was originally scheduled to air last week, then got dropped for the next months' scheduled episodes, then got added in again--seems to be that it has a plot point that had to be addressed so they could air a future episode.

It's screwing up my DVR recording, because since it was supposed to air last week, it considered last night's airing a duplicate. Since I have it set to New Episodes Only... it didn't get recorded.

Looks like they shuffled the schedule again.

6th Apr 2017 S01E07 - Emergency Punch-Up
13th Apr 2017 S01E08 - Van V Emily: Dawn of Justice
20th Apr 2017 S01E09 - Green Furious

But the schedule at nbc.com shows empty entry on April 6 20:30, so I think it's still up in the air.

I'm not sure where you're getting your schedule from. It looks like the one on futoncritic, which at least in this case I would trust. It wouldn't surprise me if NBC was running behind them.

I've made the changes to match the above.

It's from Spoiler TV. They proved to be much more reliable than futon. Not 100% but close.

NBC.com has "Van v Emily: Dawn of Justice" as this week's episode, but after looking it up, some people are saying they got the one that was originally supposed to be this week "Emergency Punch-Up" but some got "Van v Emily: Dawn of Justice" from next week. NBC switched the episodes due to "Emergency Punch-Up" featuring a gas attack. I'm not sure if different NBC affiliates aired different episodes or if the US/NBC aired one episode but Canada might not have switched their episode, so I'm not really sure what to do about the situation.

Gadfly wrote 8 years ago: 1

At least two different episodes aired in various areas. My local affiliate ran Van v. Emily. it looks like the East Coast (?) and/or Canadian feed ran Emergency Punch-Up.

Wouldn't we just, I don't know, list them both as originally airiing on the same date? It seems like someone is going to change the date no matter what until we hit the edit limit. It'd be nice if there was a note section to explain weird-ass stuff like this.

tnt wrote 8 years ago: 1

Canadian airing is not relevant, since show is linked to US network, but in case they aired different episodes on West/East Coast – that's really messed up. I'd say it's safer to stick to the official episode guide at nbc.com. The next week' schedule is empty, so I think they will shuffle episode again.

However, scene release (not that it relevant, but) is Emergency Punch-Up.

Did anything like this happened before, any precedents?

What does SpoilerTV say?

With this show, I've learned that even the official episode guide is wrong until the last minute and sometimes after, until someone gets around to updating it.

True. I think this week they've put episode summary in schedule minutes before (or even after) actual broadcast. It's like it was a last minute decision.

STV list today looks like this (only this week they've already changed it twice, with updated press releases):

6th Apr 2017 S01E07 - Van V Emily: Dawn of Justice
13th Apr 2017 S01E08 - Emergency Punch-Up
20th Apr 2017 S01E09 - Green Furious
27th Apr 2017 S01E10 - No Consequence Day
TBA S01E11 - Van of the Year

This seems pretty messed up, I do not think any of our policies covers such an extraordinary event :(

kevin87 wrote 8 years ago: 1

Maybe we list both as airing the same day, and explain the situation in the episode discussion comment section in each episode?

So it sounds like they're assuming the Canadian broadcast (and wherever else) doesn't "count". I suspect that NBC will eventually correspond with that, and they'll air EPP next week.

david wrote 8 years ago: 1

That's quite a mess, but I think it's pretty obvious what to do. If the east-coast and west-coast NBC aired a different episode, both of them should be set to the same airdate. If Canada showed a different episode, it should be ignored. (http://www.tvmaze.com/faq/15/episodes, Airdate Owner)

Gadfly wrote 8 years ago: 1

I don't think we have a way to determine if the same episode was shown in all four (five?) American time zones? Assuming that it was a matter of coast/time zone, and not affiliates.

Anyone?

I'd also suggest putting it in the editor wiki so that others don't try to change it thinking it's a mistake.

(I know the current version talks about changes in general, but this is very specific)

Like it'll stop somebody. People still try to change Fortitude dates, in spite of wiki. Instead of creating wiki (or along with it) those things should be locked for good.

Until there is such functionality (except from lock after 3 changes, 6 for trusted) all we can do is use the wiki.

It also helps us if it's changed a long time after event; rather than having to try and find information to verify something, it's already there.
