But if you look at casr appearances, the ones that are not ticked and are in the season main cast are "credited only", or am I seeing this the wrong way?

Among those "not ticked" are also main cast from previous/next seasons, who are no longer credited. Also, how can you see who exactly not ticked, unless that you keep in head all cast members from all seasons of all shows?

Maybe I'm the only one, but I think, that the best way is as it is now. Not appearing – not listed, period. No confusion, no misunderstanding. Who can tell for sure, why the name of actor, who is not appearing in the episode, is listed in credits roll? Is it because his scene was cut out? Or it's because the person responsible for the roll made mistake?

To me the usefulness of having "credit only" credits is limited to preventing contributors from making the honest mistake of adding credited names to the cast list that do not belong there. If this were implemented, people who are credited as "credit only" in some episodes should not have those episodes listed on their person pages since they did not appear. But should have their names listed on those episodes' cast lists albeit in such a way that it's clear that they were credited but did not appear. This would prevent well-meaning contributors from erroneously adding credit-only names to the cast just because their names appeared in the credits.

IMDb has an attribute field where one can add (credit only). This would work great if people used it more often but I think a lot of IMDb contributors are more concerned with simply getting names onto IMDb and less concerned about accuracy.

The "credit only" guest cast was implemented. If anyone wants to discuss other topics, feel free to do so, but in a separate thread.
