Was the 3 parts the way it originally premiered or did it premiere as a movie first?
The film premeried first in Movies then it premiered on cmore for tv adaptation and since the Writer of the Book that the film is based on by Swedish Writer Wilhelm Moberg wrote it as a 3 part trilogy.

A Google search on When did utvandrarna got released on cmore. Translation Miniserie version of ….. releases on cmore in july, published june 5. Just to get When it was released because i dont remember When i saw it. On cmore.and i bought the movie afterwards. After seeing the serie. Since i wanted them both in my collection.

That's the sticking point, it was originally a movie that was later chopped up into three pieces. We go by how something originally airs.
So from what you are saying, this is a one-off movie, not any sort of series because that's how it originally aired. If there were any sequels to the movie (actual sequels, not the movie getting split across three nights), then we could reconsider it.
