Hey !
I didn't find how to delete a character appearance in a specific episode, for both guest and main characters
I saw some mistakes (and I actually did one myself unintentionally) but it seems that you can't change, and especially for the main cast !
In the episode listing, there should be tabs for cast appearances, guest appearances, etc. Click which you need & select "Manage" from the next screen (Bottom of page). You should then see an option to delete.
To be more specific, for the main cast you just unmark the checkbox and click "Save."
And please keep in mind, that according to TVmaze policy IMDB should never be used as a source for Guest Cast, Guest Crew, Cast Appearance or Crew Appearance information.

If you want to have cast deleted, please Post it in the edit request thread, a Trusted Contributor will do it for you then.

Yeah but I can't unmark the checkboxes... maybe because I haven't edited enough yet ?

I don't want to have a cast member deleted, it's just that I have spotted episodes where some characters are marked as appearing although they're not

He means deleted from the episode(s) in question ... not as a whole from the series entirely.
Indeed regular contributors can't delete items, which includes deleting cast appearances. But like Juan said, if you post your request over at https://www.tvmaze.com/threads/2677/edit-requests?page=169#42283 someone will take care of it ASAP :)
