Use of Season Name

CR26 wrote 7 years ago: 1

Hi Guys

In the case, that a sesaon has a specific name. Is it necessary to add this name to all episodes? Or can we just remove this duplicate Information?

For example the season 9 of Archer (http://www.tvmaze.com/shows/315/archer) goes by the name of "Danger Island" and every episode is named like "Danger Island: <episode title>" The same with season 5 & 8.

This also occures in other shows like seasons 4 of Gotham(http://www.tvmaze.com/shows/11/gotham)

If the season name is part of the official title (press release/official site) we need to put it in every episode. I know that forGotham this is the case :)

can someone check the offical titles of the archer episodes? wikipedia has it without the Season Name, but I can't access the official page because it blocks the access from my country

The official site does not using a "Danger Island:" prefix. I don't have access to the FXX press site, but the press releases on futon have the episode names in format of "Archer: Danger Island - Strange Pilot."

According to TVmaze policy, press release have precedence over official site data, but IMO using the name of the season twice (as a season name and as a part of episode titles) is redundant.

Just my opinion ...

Archer: Danger Island - Strange Pilot - translates to - Series Name: Season Name - Episode Title

Otherwise you would have Archer: Danger Island - Danger Island: Strange Pilot if 'Danger Island: Strange Pilot' was the episode title.

As always, my opinion and a toonie gets you a Timmies double/double. ymmv

Is it okay for you guys if I chance it on the 3 archer seasons?

I would suggest that we add something to the policy that says, if there is a Season Name it should not be included in every single episode name.

Yeah, but in case of Gotham FOX is using those prefixes at the show's website as well, and in case of Archer they're not. Which could also be considered an argument in favor of removing Archer's prefixes :)
