Miss Fisher & the Crypt of Tears (2020)

Miss Fisher & the Crypt of Tears is a stand-alone MOVIE and has NO association with any TV or streaming network, be that, the ABC, Acorn, Netflix, etc. etc. is listed in the credits at the end of the movie.

It is, or perhaps was, intended to "reboot" the show via a series of movies on the "big screen", rather than via a new TV series. The only characters that have been carried over from the TV series, are Phryne Fisher, DI Jack Robinson & Aunt Prudence. The other characters, Constable Hugh Collins, Dot Williams, Bert & Mr. Butler have all been dropped from this movie (they all appear for 1 scene near the start of the movie).

The movie was in Australian cinemas on 27th February 2020, but didn't last long due to Covid-19, with the Blu-ray/DVD released on the 6th May 2020.

Every Cloud Productions raised funds for the film via a Kickstarter campaign that raised $AU733,000:

along with funding by Film Victoria & Screen Australia.

Roadshow Films has the distribution rights in AU/NZ, while All3Media has the international rights.

If I recall correctly, the ABC was willing to continue with additional episodes, however, Essie Davis was unable to return to Australia to film a new series (busy filming Game of Thrones S6), so in their infinite (stupid) wisdom, they choose to cancel the series.

I'm not sure that it should be listed on TVMaze, having said that though, personally I have no problem with Miss Fisher & the Crypt of Tears, being listed as a special. If so, then the broadcast date, probably should be set to Acorn TV (but it's still NOT available via the Aussie version of Acorn TV). I'm sure the movie will eventually be shown on Aussie TV but there's no guarantee that it will be broadcast on the ABC (the logical choice though).

Cheers
