Some features

Here are 2 features I would like to see added/implemented here not only for myself but I believe they would be a great site improvement as well as speeding up our input process.
Would it be possible to add 2 new columns/rows to the “Episode List” screen please?
1. I would like a row titled “Summary?” – Then in the Episode # part of the screen it has a small checkmark on any episode that currently DOES HAVE A SUMMARY
Also would it be possible to add this as well to the same screen
2.. I would like a row titled “Screen Shot/Photo” – Then in the Episode # part of the screen it has a small checkmark on any episode that currently DOES HAVE A SCREENSHOT/PHOTO.
I believe the 1st one is very important to us that do most of the input. For myself when I look at a list I like to click on the next Episode and if there is no summary add one. I then click on the « Previous Ep. Link to see if the previous episode needs a summary added or not? I usually go on and add many summaries to that show until I either get to an episode that has one or I decide I have spent enough time on this show I need to move on to another one now.

I don't think it would be a good idea to add it next to those episode lists. I guess you'd better be able to add a new tool like they did with shows missing info/genre, however I guess there's no hurry to add it as there's still plenty of editing work to do :)

Even though you didn't say it, I gather you are hinting at summaries are not imporantant enough for me to waste my time on as they are not a high enough priority for the site?

Summaries are VERY important for us, and a tool where we can see which eps are missing summaries would be nice to have in my opinion. How such a tool would work out best, guess david and jan will know this :)

Of course Summaries are very important to this site, although I meant to say that this addon doesn't need to be produced right now in a hurry. We still have lots of editing work, although I'm in for this addon to be honest, but instead of next to the episode, it would be better placed in the tools button

I do not feel the same way! I don't want to have to toggle back and forth between the episode page and the Tools section. I want to see it right in front of me for every Episode at once! There is plenty of empty space to add a row for a small check mark guys so why is that a problem? I guarantee you if it's added to the Tools section it not only will NOT HELP ME but it's too much of a waste of time having to toggle back and forth between 2 sections!

Therefore I will not use it at all if it is not right in front of me when I am trying to help the site out!

I agree we have to find a way to make it very easy to use without having to go back and forth. I am sure if this will be implemented, david will find a suitable way :)

Thank you very much for your kind support Juan. There are other items in the Tools section that I wish were somewhere else however this one I feel is the most important of all of them so I will not ask about any of the others at least not this year (I hope I am still here next year?)

You know that the 'tool section' is much easier to use, same workload and quicker to spot series that still need some editing. Once you start addng a summary of a specific episode of a series, it will open a new tab to do so, once saved you can close the tab without toggling back. So basically it saves us a lot of time and there won't be a series to be forgotten to edit

Yes, that is correct too, If we would have a list with each show and the list of all episodes missing a summary, we just have to click on the one we want to add and a new window opens :)

Wow, that's quite a list. Thanks for your feedback!
1) You can do exactly this using tags. Check out the blog post about it here!
2) You can do this, but you have to navigate there through your watch list. If you click "view all" in the watchlist, you'll land on a page like this, where you can mark a show as watched up till a specific episode with a single click. Perhaps we should link here from the regular episode list page as well, let's see what Jan thinks.
3) This is not a bad idea now that the forum's growing increasingly bigger. Will put this on the medium-term todo list.
4) Not sure if this will ever happen, it would be a huge amount of work that only benefits a very specific audience. It's a very long-term item if anything at all.
5) More advanced rating calculations than the average are on the list, although I'm not sure where exactly. :-)

2) I don't know if someone already said this, but what about someone who has watched only some seasons of a show?
For example, I watched only the last two seasons of The Daily Show (and random previously episodes)... it's a long work to check seasons like that that are... idk, something near 200 episodes for season?
It would be useful if that option could be improved to a "watch from *here* to *here*" or something...

Adding these checkmarks to the regular episode list wouldn't be good - it would clutter the view for all of the users, while it's kind of useless information unless you're doing data entry.

I did however create a new panel as some people suggested, "episodes with missing info" where you can do exactly as you suggested, optionally filtered by a specific show. Check it out and see if you can work with that :)

OK where can I find this new feature becasue I have looked on a few shows and on their Episode listing I see nothing new. Even if all the episodes etc. are totally complete I should at least see this thing anyways with nothing in it yet? I hope it is not in the Tools Section becasue of the toggling effect that causes?

Hello Ron.

it is here and very nicely and easy to use:

http://www.tvmaze.com/dataentry/incompleteepisodes

if you click on an episode it opens a new tab, so you don't have to go back and forth on your browser.

Also you can search for a specific show and then it just displays the episodes that have missing info.

if you have any further questions, feel free to ask .

cheers
Juan

I am going to ask for this special feature be added for the second time. When a show’s scheduled airtime changes all episodes from that day forward should also automatically change. This avoids lazy people who will not bother to look and see if episodes are already added with the old airtime on them and each one also needs to be changed/corrected. Either they are too lazy to do this or they cannot remember to check whichever one it is does not matter only having the future episode airtimes be correct matters. Once again tonight I found “Harvey Beaks” air time was changed from 20:00 to 17:30 yet none of the episodes were changed so I had to correct all 10 Episode airtimes because of someone’s failings. This is getting to be a habit around here and I’m tired to fixing someone else’s problems!

No response from any of the big 4 the last time I suggested this feature 2 months ago so let's see if they will respond this time?

I highly doubt it?

If it was added, it would have to be an optional checkbox as you could just be editing an episode airing at a special time.

Though I'd prefer it to be that when you edit the show level time, any future episodes get updated.

Ideally batch processing (selecting which ones to change) would be best, but it doesn't seem like they want to do that :/

No they don't. However what you say is not entirely true as a checkbox would not be sufficient. It would of course have to allow seperate special airtimes to be changed independently after the fact!
