Acquired vs Watched - Watchlist View

Cadence wrote 9 years ago: 1

Thanks for the discussion everyone! Glad to see the 'acquired' issues (acquired counting as watched, and acquired removing episodes from the watchlist) were basically immediately managed :). Thanks for acting so fast (and for creating the option).

On to suggestions!

I wonder if there's a way to have a 'bulk select' option for acquired (or skipped). I suppose it won't be awful to just go through all my shows in an hour and indicate what I have acquired, but I have a *lot* of unwatched DVDs lol. A bulk acquire (that does not cancel earlier watched episodes) could be great.

Acquired & skipped being counted in your stats is now fixed as well.

Making it possible to mark episodes as acquired & skipped in bulk, as well as improvements to the bulk UI in general, are planned in a separate iteration in the near future.

Marking as watched from the calendar won't be part of this feature, though it would be done if & when we get to this pending feature: http://www.tvmaze.com/threads/289/one-week-calendar-with-more-details

Marking the last remaining episode as watched is now functioning properly again.

The colors in the calendar now properly differentiate between watched & acquired.

It's unlikely that we'll switch to a UI with 4 different buttons (we've definitely mocked that one up, but the result is a mess) but perhaps there are more tweaks possible.

You wouldn't need 4 buttons, only 3: Watched/Unwatched can be a toggle, as it was prior to the change. Unwatched is irrelevant in the Watch List anyway as Watched episodes aren't shown in the list.

Some would still want to toggle from acquired to unwatched.

Why would you toggle from acquired to unwatched? I would think the most common toggle from acquired would be watched, since that's generally the order you do it in. 1. Get the episode. 2. Watch it. All toggling from acquired to unwatched would do is put it back in the default position that you had to change it from in the beginning to make it acquired.

I like the idea of 4 icon buttons on each line, or better yet, an option to turn on what buttons you'd like to use. Could work with columns of check boxes too, or radio buttons. Dropdowns are a bit tedious. Holding and selecting with the single click is working but it's an awkward movement when you're used to single click action.

I'm liking the new features on the watchlist. :) Also like the new Episode Guide listing. Makes it very easy to go back through the series' I've worked on and double check spelling/grammar errors.

If you delete a show and you don't want it to stay in your stats.
Maybe you won't use this, but I and other people will surely do!

I still have few Acquired in my just watch list and counted stats.

Can you elaborate what you mean exactly?

Alex2k wrote 9 years ago: 1

Hello David. I second what Cecile wrote about "Just watched" list (profile/stats). If i mark episodes as Acquired/Skipped they popup in that list as watched. If i Unwatch episodes they disapear from list.

ejones wrote 9 years ago: 1

Adding my vote for the buttons instead of a dropdown or some other way to make marking watched a single-click action again. Nice to have these options but right now I don't think I will be using anything but watched. I came to find this thread after finding it frustrating to click-scroll-click several episodes (of different shows) in a row.

Yes, I just put all episodes of a serie as acquired, and they appear in my 'just watched' list on my profile.

That's also still happening for me.

Cecile wrote 9 years ago: 1

New strange thing : my watchlist is filtered as 'watch most recently' but when I marked an episode as watch and reload the page, the serie don't go back to the top of there is some acquired episodes still in the list.

And if i mark an acquired episode as watched, the serie goes up. And if i put it back as acquired, the serie stays on the top of the list.

tonyrulez wrote 9 years ago: 1

Yes, the sorting bothers me too in "watched most recently" filter.

Also: just watched an episode, marked it as watched. After refreshing the page the show didn't go to the top! I have 2 shows on the top I haven't watched in months, I only marked them as acquired yesterday. No matter what show I mark as watched, it will be only the 3rd in the list. After removing every single "acquired" mark it went back to normal.

Looks like there is a lot of problems with this new function (sorting, calendar, bulk operation, stats, etc.), hope you guys fix it :) For the time being I'll stick with the simple watched/unwatched options.

david wrote 9 years ago: 1

Thanks, both fixed!

I just discovered another disadvantage of the drop-downs compared to buttons on the Watch List: when marking more than one episode from a series as Watched, with a button, I could just click again without moving my mouse; the Watched episode would have been removed from the list and the following rows moved up, so the button for the next episode would occupy the same spot. With the drop-down, after marking an episode as Watched the mouse ends up on the next row, which a moment ago was the next episode but is now the next-but-one, and there's a danger of reflexively repeating the action without moving the mouse in between and accidentally marking the wrong one as Watched (which I just did).

I'm not arguing against the extra options, although I'm unlikely to use them myself, but I really do feel the switch from buttons to drop-downs has made the Watch List less user-friendly.

Cecile wrote 9 years ago: 1

Would it be possible to have an 'acquired list'?

I don't watch episodes when they're broadcast, i wait until i got the all season before beginning, so in my watchlist i just put the series who are complete and i would want to see which i have to retrieve.
