Ratings Roundup Week of September 30, 2018

CBS had a few premieres last week. For the new shows, The Neighborhood opened strong, Happy Together did not, it will need to hold right where it is if it wants to see any longevity. God Friended Me had a healthy bump from the NFL overrun, it will be interesting to see if the show holds that audience when it doesn't have the assist. For the returning shows, NCIS Los Angeles opened well, up a little from where it ended last season. SEAL Team and Criminal Minds did not start as well as hoped, both lost a good portion of their audience from the Spring. Monday night continues to plague the network. Magnum PI slipped a couple of tenths from its premiere, though it is doing better in the time slot than anything else the Eye has tried there. Time will tell if that's enough to get the program a full season or a renewal. Murphy Brown and FBI both lost a tenth from their premieres, but should be fine for now.

ABC did not have any new shows premiere last week. For the returning programs, Station 19 rose a tenth from where it ended in the Spring. Fresh Off The Boat and Speechless saw significant drops in numbers with the move to Friday night. Even with the bit of grace given to Friday shows, the future of both could be in trouble. A Million Little Things lost three tenths off its premiere, it will need to bounce back a bit if it wants to last. Single Parents also dropped but should be fine for now.

NBC premiered Will & Grace and Superstore last week; both rose a bit from their numbers in the Spring. Manifest and New Amsterdam each lost three tenths off their premieres, however both should be fine for now, as long as they don't lose any more. Putting the Dick Wolfe shows all together on the same night looks like a winner for the Peacock Network as all three Chicago shows held steady from their premiere numbers.

FOX had a good second week. The Simpsons, Bob's Burgers, and Family Guy all opened well. Last Man Standing dropped a good bit from its premiere, but is in no danger. The Cool Kids also dropped from its premiere, it will need to hold where it is if it wants to see the Spring. Lethal Weapon was steady from its premiere, but news Damon Wayans wants to leave at the end of the season puts the program's future in doubt. Can you still have a Lethal Weapon series without Riggs or Murtaugh?

Not surprising that most every program saw a loss over premiere numbers, curiosity viewing for the new shows, and wrapping up cliff-hangers for the returning shows will do that. The next couple of weeks will start to see how the ratings will shake out for everyone. How did your favorites do?

I really liked the premiere of God Friended Me, hopefully the remaining episodes will as good as the first one. Big Bang Theory? So far, I'm finding the final season as disappointing as the last couple seasons, which is a bummer. Young Sheldon is still really pleasant to watch, same with Mom. I thought Thursday's episode of Mom was better written, and had more lol moments than its season premiere episode. CW, let's see what you'll have with your Fall premieres! :)
