Ratings Roundup Week of November 11, 2018

NBC won ratings lottery last week with the Sunday Night Football game. This Is Us saw a slight drop after a week off for election coverage while New Amsterdam lost a couple of tenths. The Voice was steady. Chicago PD saw a slight drop, but it is in no danger. Will & Grace lost a tenth; the show is already renewed for next season, but network execs may be regretting that decision.

ABC is already finding ways to fill time so it doesn't have to air The Alec Baldwin Show. The program has been pushed off to December, so don't expect any new episodes after the network burns off the few that remain. The Connors lost three tenths after its preemption for election coverage last week. The Rookie lost a tenth from its last episode two weeks ago, things may not be looking good for the show. Fans of Fresh Off The Boat and Speechless must have finally found the Friday night schedule, both programs were up a tenth last week. Child Support still wallows at the bottom of the grid; being cheap and aired on Friday might may not be enough to save it.

CBS had a workmanlike week last week. Bull, now on a new night without the ratings help from NCIS, and Magnum PI seem to have settled, as the ratings for both shows have been steady for the last several weeks. Bull is practically guaranteed a renewal as it's in season three. Magnum will probably squeak a renewal as well. FBI is the rookie drama winner for the network (possibly due in part to the previously mentioned assist from NCIS) and will be an easy renewal.

FOX had a bit of a slip last week, with most shows losing a tenth from the week before. Last Man Standing was down two tenths, Empire lost a tenth while Star was steady. The Simpsons lost an entire point from last week; a perfect example of how much of a bump NFL overruns can give shows. Lethal Weapon and The Gifted both lost a tenth.

The CW went quietly about its business last week. The Flash reclaimed the top spot with Supernatural right behind it; the brothers Winchester gained a tenth from last week. Arrow also gained a tenth while Riverdale and Supergirl were steady. By all rights All American should be cancelled by the end of the season, it's not a CBS contribution to the schedule and the ratings have been low even by CW standards. However, with the network's need to fill a six-day schedule now, it may get a reprieve.

Final Season

Schedules will be a bit scrambled next week, lots of repeats and specials for the Thanksgiving holiday. How are your favorites doing so far this season?

@gmpugs Legacies will probably get a second season; it's consistently drawing more than a million viewers, which for the CW, is good. God Friended Me ... we'll really have to wait until after the football season to see how well it does when it doesn't have the artificial boost from overruns. It's doing OK without the boost, it's right around the network average, time will tell if it can hold onto those numbers after the holidays.

My favorites look like they're doing pretty good this season so far. I do have a question about 2 new shows I've been enjoying this season: I know God Friended Me got a full season order, what are its chances of getting a second season? What are Legacies chances for a second season as well?
