Ratings Roundup for the Week of December 04, 2022

FOX surprised no one by cancelling Monarch the day before its finale aired. The freshman country music drama series never found an audience on the network. Hopes that Welcome to Flatch would hold the audience it found after some fortuitous scheduling were dashed last week. The mockumentary lost half of its ratings gains and seven hundred thousand viewers. The Resident was also down, shedding five hundred thousand viewers. Back-to-back episodes of the animated series Housebroken replaced The Great North and Bob's Burgers last week. The series showed why it normally runs in the summer as it lost four hundred thousand viewers for the network.

The future of The Winchesters, and Walker: Independence for that matter, is anyone's guess. NexStar said during an investor call that they are obligated to carry ten current CW shows through next season. So do you keep the longer running stuff to build episode count for future syndie deals and cut your losses on the new shows? Or do you keep the new shows that have some powerful name recognition in the hopes they might help you hold on to viewers as you transition to whatever the plan is for the network in 2024? Decisions, decisions.

You get back-to-back episodes of Ghosts this week and then it's off until January. :)

I definitely have episodes of Ghosts to look forward to. However, I wish the episodes were longer. Its such a good show. I haven't gotten around to watching Ghosts (UK) version, as of yet.

ME TOO! The Winchesters is just un watchable I mean with all those wonderful characters they could have used like Castiel, Bobby, Crowely I would have watched a spin off for those, much more interesting and NEW. We already know what happened to mom and dad repeatedly!

Laura1, I never got around to watching Supernatural. I'm liking The Winchesters and may find time in the future to watch Supernatural.

I would have LOVED a series with Bobby and Rufus hunting together or even something with the old Men of Letters. Zero interest in watching more about John and Mary. As you say, their story was already told.

exactly, they had so many options argghh! ...guess they wanted something for the teens...the hell with the loyal old fans lol

Which upcoming new shows or new seasons or finales are you looking forward to?

Honestly, I don't watch that much network TV at the moment. I'm excited for the next season of The Mandalorian and I can't wait for season two of Strange New Worlds

I still watch NCIS: LA, but it was ready to end last season (and had a great wrap-up at the end of last season) I'm slowly making my way through Walker: Independence as I enjoy westerns, but I'm hesitant to get too attached.

I'm looking forward to the final seasons of A Million Little Things (ABC) and The Flash (The CW). And I'm especially looking forward to the finale of New Amsterdam (NBC), my favorite current show on network TV.

Regarding the upcoming new shows, I can't say I'm looking forward to any one of them particularly. I will probably have a taste of Not Dead Yet (ABC), Will Trent (ABC), True Lies (CBS), Accused (Fox), Alert (Fox), Found (NBC), Night Court (NBC), and Gotham Knights (The CW) before I decide which ones to keep and which ones to discard. Gotham Knights is a CW superhero show in the Nextstar era; that means I can't be emotionally invested to it because its chances of survival for long are slim. To me, Fox's Accused sounds the most promising upcoming show. I hope it delivers.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Dan Fielding in the rebooted Night Court. It would be no end of depressing if forty years on he is still a lowly Asst DA. As for the character in general, the writers were already toning down his more lechery behaviour in the last few seasons of the old show not sure how they will handle the character now.

I want to like Gotham Knights. One, it has Misha Collins, so it will be interesting to see him in a different role. But I'm not sure I want to watch yet another angsty twenty-somethings series. We'll see.

I still haven't watched the last season of The Flash, so not sure I'll tune in for the next season. All fo the characters I enjoyed watching (Cisco, the various Harrison Wells', Joe) are all gone now.
