Ratings Roundup for the Week of February 19, 2023

CBS announced renewals for several shows last week. Conspicuous in their absence were Blue Bloods, SWAT, and East New York. Blue Bloods would be going into its fourteenth season if renewed. If it does get another nod, expect some cast changes as old shows are also expensive shows and it will need to cut expenses. SWAT is in the same boat, though to a lesser extent as the show is in its sixth season now. If the Shemar Moore series is renewed, there will likely be cost-cutting measures involved with that show as well. The one to worry about is East New York. Ratings have been middling for the series after a strong premiere. If it is renewed, it will likely be moved to a different night.

ABC announced The Goldbergs would end with the current season. The move isn't much of a surprise. Even without the Jeff Garlin situation last season, the show is in its tenth season and ratings have been declining for a while now. The Company You Keep was a late premiere last week. The drama series opened to low numbers and will likely be quietly shuffled off after its initial run. Not Dead Yet was steady. Will Trent was down three hundred thousand viewers. The Rookie and The Rookie: Feds were even. A Million Little Things was down three hundred thousand viewers.

NBC wanted to make sure viewers knew Magnum PI had moved to the network, airing numerous repeats in the run-up to the back-to-back episode season premiere. After all of that, the show opened to middling numbers, losing a million and a half viewers from its last episode on CBS. The show was picked up for two, ten-episode seasons, so fans can enjoy the extended episode count, but don't expect the show to be renewed once the current twenty-episode plan concludes. Young Rock picked up two hundred thousand viewers for its season finale. Chances are that was a series finale as well as the odds of the show being renewed are slim. Back-to-back episodes of La Brea were down compared to last week. Night Court only lost one hundred thousand viewers last week, hopefully, a sign it found its low point.

FOX had a quiet week. Animal Control lost five hundred thousand viewers off its premiere. It's still doing better than Welcome To Flatch in the same slot, but those numbers don't offer much hope for renewal. Call Me Kat lost three hundred thousand viewers, and its chances of renewal are shrinking. Alert: Missing Persons Unit was even, but low. Its chances for renewal will depend on the network's plan for scripted shows next season. Accused lost two hundred thousand viewers. 9-1-1: Lone Star was down one hundred thousand viewers, but should be an easy renewal.

The CW saw All American gain two hundred thousand viewers and had its highest rating for the season. All American: Homecoming also saw a bump in ratings, while its audience remained even with the previous week. Walker had a tiny ratings bump, but lost one hundred thousand viewers. The Flash saw even viewer numbers, but its rating dipped. The Winchesters picked up one hundred thousand viewers. Walker: Independence was even.

Upfronts are about ten weeks away. Most decisions on what shows will be renewed have already been made. Will your favorites be back for another season?
