⠀⠀Bring Clara back!

It is possible as she is now running around the Universe in her own Tardis with SHE.

They could both come back and BOSS the Doctor around. That would be fun :-)

How do you work out that this is the FINAL appearance of the Master ?   It was never established that this version followed on from Missy.

Just an ever so brief history of The Master. ( Pre 2005 )  First appeared in the 1971 story "Terror of The Autons"  played by Roger Delgado. As far as I know, he was never confirmed as the "First" Master.  Delgado died in 1973 so the character wasn't seen again until "The Deadly Assassin" in 1976 , played by Peter Pratt , who was made up to look like an emmaciated corpse. This version was revealed to be in his final regeneration.  The same version of The Master next appeared in "The Keeper Of Traken"  in 1981 where he was, this time, played by Geoffrey Beavers. At the end of this story, The Master transferred his "essence" into another character , played by Anthony Ainley. ( Don't ask me how !! )   Still in this "final" life , Ainley then played The Master through the 1980's until the show was cancelled.  In the 20th anniversary story "The Five Doctors", in 1983,  The Master was given a new set of regeneration's by the Time Lords, as a reward for helping The Doctor.  He was then played by Eric Roberts in the 1990's TV movie starring Paul McGann as the Doctor before John Simm took over as your "original" Master in the new version of the show.   Hope that helps !

That helped a great deal and I genuinely appreciate you taking out the time to write it up.

Yea, I suppose I could have worded that better. I was referring to Simm. I'm not intimately familiar with Pre-2005 Dr. Who or any of the other mediums but it would seem that you've blown a hole in my theory so this battle goes to you( yes all comment sections are war zones ;-) )

So who was your "original" Master ?

The Master has had more than 12 regenerations ( not all have been seen on screen )

As far as season final episode's go, this was not the best Doctor Who season ender at all.

BUT... at least it showed the FINAL appearance of "The Master" because there is no coming back from being completely eradicated. Not even for this never ending, constantly re-appearing drain on the show.

If they bring back "The Master" ever again, even in a flash back episode, I truly believe it will be the end of the show.

As for the final minute of this episode, well lets just say that the 13th season had better not take more than 8 months or there will be blood to pay.

How do you work out that this is the FINAL appearance of the Master ?   It was never established that this version followed on from Missy.

The "original" Master was menacing seemed worthy of being the Doctor's rival. Missy was just all kinds of fun. This guy's over the top, comically maniacal, approach was annoying and his motivation, for want of a word, seemed petty.

So i'm guessing the 12 regeneration limit only applies to manufactured Timelords and with Doctor being original recipe s/he doesn't have that restriction.

This season has been quite lackluster for me but I'm loving potential all of these newly discovered lives bring to the table, chiefly, the idea that there are forgotten enemies nursing millennia's old grudges out there waiting to pounce. Might even have something to do with the Doc's current predicament.
