Lloyd Benedict Nolan was an American film and television actor. Among his many roles, Nolan is remembered for originating the roles of private investigator Michael Shayne in a series of 1940s B Movies.
He received great recognition for playing Lt Queeg in 'The Caine Mutiny Court Martial' for 832 performances on Broadway and in London earning him the Donaldson and New York Drama Critics Awards as Best Actor of 1954. He then performed it on television, winning an Emmy. He also has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
His career on stage, television and films spanned over 50 years.
