Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Roselyn Sanchez studied marketing at the University of Puerto Rico, appearing in beauty pageants as well as co-hosting the television variety show Que Vacilon, before moving to New York City to pursue an acting career. She made her feature film debut with a small role in the 1992 film Captain Ron, followed by becoming the first Latina character Pilar Domingo on the long-running soap opera As the World Turns in 1996.
