Born in Los Angeles, California, Courtney Ford received training in The Strasberg Method, The Improv Underground, and studied with Andrew Magarian and Lesly Kahn. Struggling for the first eight years to be noticed in the acting world, she made guest appearances in a string of series and movies, finally landing the role of Christine Hill in the 2009 series Dexter.
