Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Genevieve Buechner was raised in Vancouver and after taking a small course in acting, was called to an audition for the youth theatre's acting tour, making her the youngest member of the cast. A week later she was sent to Toronto to audition for an independent film named Saint Monica, and landed the lead role at the age of ten.
