Everything I see in searches for the show points to a attempt to start a series and it did not become popular like they thought it would. Some of the site information presented in the searches points to multiple episodes but when you follow through it is only the one episode that aired in 2014.

Seems to have been announced as a one-off special but with talks of possibly beeing extended into a regular tv show. But I still can't seem to find any press release or official information. I think it was a special to test the waters and decide from there, then it was later reworked into Maya and Marty.
