Dead Show Walking :: All American (The CW)

I know The CW accepts horrific ratings at times but when a show that got a lot of pre-season hype opens with a 0.2 rating and less than 3/4 million viewers ... losing over 50% in both total viewers & ratings demo from it's lead-in ... it's pretty safe to say this show is a goner. They will likely stick with it for the initial 13 episode order which does give the show a chance to gain some word of mouth and time to grow in the ratings. Unknown factors such as streaming and/or foreign sales could, if lucrative enough, also be a life line ... but don't hold your breath ... test patterns have had higher ratings.

Meanwhile CW already ordered 5 more scripts for it, ahead of the premiere ))

And sometimes a show stays on the air because of off-screen stuff. If CW made some kind of deal with someone on the show's creative team ("We'll run your show come hell or high water, and you'll do a theatrical movie for us"), it could stay on regardless of ratings.

It sounds like that's how some of Spielberg's recent TV ventures stayed on the air. No one on the creative team probably has the pull of a Spielberg, but stranger contracts have been drawn up. :)

Money talks, nobody walks... but money has an odd way of coming up.

It's always about the money ... in everything ... overriding all sense and logic ... we'd have gladly sold the Soviets the rope to hang us with but they couldn't afford it so we (the West) won ... so ya, if there's backroom $$ floating around that can complicate predictions ... but 0.2 ... the watching paint dry channel has more viewers.

With Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter involved I'm guessing The CW will be very reluctant to take it off the screen.

He's got so many balls in the air will he even miss it if it's gone? Maybe they'd be doing him a favour by reducing his workload a smidge? :)

Yeah, if it's a Berlanti and Schlechter show, that makes a huge difference. They've got a dozen balls in the air (including the new Titans) that I'd bet The CW is afraid to say "boo" to them.

Yeah, he's involved with too much that it's kind of hurting them. I wasn't personally interested in the show though, looked like a more racially charged OC focused on sports lol
