Please fix the following errors: The image you uploaded has an invalid aspect ratio

dpratt wrote 2 years ago: 1

I tried to upload a person image and got the following error message:

Note that depending on the image type, the image may be cropped to fit into the site's layout. Below you can see a preview of the result; please check if it looks good in this format. Otherwise, choose a different image or - if applicable - a different image type.

I suggest you relax the image uploading restrictions. There isn't anything wrong with the image I want to upload whatsoever. Yes it is wider than it is tall, but the way it used to work where it automatically cropped to the right aspect ratio and showed you a preview worked just fine. I suggest going back to the old method of uploading images!

Here is the person record:

Here is the image I want to upload but it won't let me:

In the meantime, I uploaded two other images, one 1200x1530 and one 1418x2128, so higher resolutions than the image linked in the post above (which is 434x404).

Headshots are preferred but either way the image must be in the portrait format.

The actors rarely have only one picture on the web. You could always find another one with the correct aspect and better resolution, as shown above.

The way it used to work, it would automatically crop to portrait format which worked well when the image you wanted to upload contained a head shot in the middle and just needed to be cropped to fit the portrait aspect ratio. See the image that I linked to above. To me that was preferable because it allowed for quick uploading of an image without having to mess around with manual cropping.

Again here is the example: https://www.arrahman.com/images/photos/ar4-big.jpg

Only the small preview thumbnail image is cropped. When people request the original image through API they get the original format. According to API documentation, they expect to receive the following: For shows, people and characters this is an image in poster format; for episodes the image is in landscape format. https://www.tvmaze.com/api#images
