Renew/Cancel information for FOX programs

Fox announced its Fall schedule today, the first network to do so, and there were some interesting omissions from the list. The Resident, Prodigal Son, and Last Man Standing were all conspicuously absent from the fall listings, along with MasterChef and Outmatched. Usually that would mean cancellations, but considering all of these, except maybe Outmatched, were fairly high-rated programs, it's hard to believe. The network did announce that 9-1-1 and 9-1-1 Lone Star would air at mid-season, as would Duncanville and Hell's Kitchen

Two dramas that were supposed to air this season have been pushed to the Fall, namely neXt and Filthy Rich. Cosmos: Possible Worlds will air on FOX on Tuesdays, after premiering on National Geographic earlier this year. The network also picked up LA's Finest for another season from Sony.

Here is the list of renewals and cancellations so far ...

Beat Shazam is one of the most interesting Reality Shows for the people who love Music. So far its been pretty interesting, hoping we get to see alot more of it over time.

911 Lone Star certainly benefited from the wild popularity of the parent show. Deputy's rates weren't that different from Prodigal Son, which boils down to middling for both shows. The fact FOX has still not said anything about The Resident, Prodigal Son, or Last Man Standing is telling and it may be that those shows have been quietly shelved as well.

Could also be there are unresolved issues with contracts/schedules ... actors have movie gigs or other work lined up for when their shows stop filming but now the start/end dates are all up in the air ... networks may not want to renew a show that can only deliver 10 episodes rather than the usual 22~24.

Screwed up when ya cancelled 'Deputy'.. only decent show that didn't feature screwed-up family characters.. 911 Lone-Star renewed? Disgusting..

Interesting that LA's Finest is getting picked up to be broadcast on a TV network a year after Spectrum released it, but they didn't pick it up for another season, they're just airing season 1 and then 2. Wonder if the Mad About You revival will be bought for TV broadcast as well... in addition to Paradise Lost which will air on Paramount later this year.

There were rumors networks were going to start picking up streaming material from their online sources to plug holes in schedules. The fact FOX is going to be running at least two shows now that have already aired in other places does not bode well for those fans of The Resident, Prodigal Son, or Last Man Standing. The network is basically telegraphing that they don't expect to be filming new content any time soon.

It is very weird that there was no mention of Prodigal Son, The Resident, or Last Man Standing. It may be FOX is hedging its bets a little, scheduling shows that have already filmed, such as neXt and Filthy Rich, just in case there are longer delays before normal filming can resume. If there's no updated information in the next week or so, that could be very telling. If they were renewed, I would have expected at least some mention of them, either that they will film and air when they can or they are held back for Spring next year. Like I said, it's really ... weird.
