BBC Two is a UK channel owned and operated by the BBC. The channel is the second terrestrial TV channel available across the country and launched in 1964. The channel tends to lend itself to more 'highbrow' programming than the mainstream channel BBC One. The channels most successful programs include 'Top Gear' and 'The Culture Show'. Comedies that are often shown on BBC Two first often move to BBC One if they attract a high enough audience. One of the highest rating shows in the UK 'Great British Bake Off' originally began on BBC Two, but has more recently moved to BBC One.
