André Holland is an American actor who played Kevin in the Academy Award-winning movie Moonlight, for which he won numerous awards and nominations. Throughout his career, he has also acted in several theatre productions and television shows. His notable works on television include The Knick and American Horror Story: Roanoke. Born in Bessemer, Alabama, Holland grew up with two sisters, Natalie and Maketha. He studied at John Carroll Catholic High School and earned his undergraduate degree from Florida State University. He then graduated with a Master of Fine Arts from New York University in 2006 and soon landed roles on television. Three years later, the actor debuted on Broadway in a revival of Come and Gone, attended by President Obama. Today, critics consider Holland an excellent Hollywood character actor.
