Season 1

Episode 1

Episode: 1x01 | Airdate: Jul 19, 2009

Episode 1

Can parents of spoilt teenagers and twentysomethings reverse the years of over-indulging and mollycoddling?

Thanks to them their kids have become bone idle, workshy and devoid of life skills. Now these parents have had enough. They want to fast-track their overprotected brats into fully functioning, independent adults using real life challenges in just four weeks.

With the prize of a round-the-world trip on offer, these eight 17- to 25-year-olds give up their home comforts for a house in south-east London where they must fend for themselves for the very first time - cooking, cleaning and, worst of all for them, working. Each episode, the most useless kid is ejected by the people who made them what they are - their parents.

Life alone gets off to a cold start when a lack of hot water sends the housemates into a spin, and they endure their first ever day of hard graft running a hotel in central London.

Episode 2

Can parents of spoilt teenagers and twentysomethings reverse the years of over-indulging and mollycoddling?

Thanks to them their kids have become bone idle, work shy and devoid of any life skills. But now these parents have had enough. They are going to try to fast-track their overprotected brats into fully functioning, independent adults using real life challenges in just four weeks.

With the prize of a round-the-world trip on offer, these eight 17 to 25-year-olds have to give up their home comforts for a house in south east London where they must fend for themselves for the very first time - cooking, cleaning and, worst of all for them, working. Each episode, the most useless kid will be ejected by the very people who made them what they are - their parents.

The layabouts are thrust into the cut-throat world of fashion as they host a second-hand clothing fashion show. The domestic front is suffering, and in a desperate bid to take control of the situation, Sean calls a house meeting to create a cleaning rota. This is met with resistance by Nicky and Rachel, who refuse to clear up after themselves. A blocked loo sends the house into a spin and, uncharacteristically, Dogan saves the day and clears the blockage. Danielle and Dina venture into uncharted waters and attempt to cook themselves a meal from scratch, with unpalatable results.

Each episode, the most useless kid is ejected by the people who made them what they are: their parents.

The six remaining spoilt brats experience the first hard graft of their lives when they are forced to work a day's labour on a farm in the depths of Hampshire.

Reluctant to clean up after themselves, they turn on each other and the house becomes divided, with Nicky and Rachel on one side and Dogan, Dina and Sean on the other. Confronted by Dina about her lack of hygiene and domestic cleanliness, Rachel is determined to prove to the house that she is not the dirty girl they think she is, and attempts something she has never done before - to use the washing machine.

At the farm, Nicky is true to form and pleads to quit as soon as the going gets tough; Dina confronts her worst fear in the form of a meat cleaver; and Danielle's inability to get to grips with pie-making nearly leaves a restaurant full of hungry customers without any supper.

The five remaining spoilt brats turn Del-Boy Trotter for the day when they are forced to run two stalls selling cheap goods at Portobello Market.

As the kids have been surviving on trash, the parents decide to make them cook a healthy meal for each other every day - with interesting results.

The four remaining kids - Dogan, Dina, Sean and Danielle - are forced to return to school to learn the ultimate lesson in responsibility when they are put in charge of two classes of nine-year-old children.

Danielle has been living off nothing but instant noodles, takeaways and energy drinks, and consequently is suffering from one almighty blockage. Thanks to Dogan and the support of her housemates and the best laxatives London has to offer, she manages to experience relief after 17 days.

At school, Sean and Dina sail through the challenge, whereas Dogan and Danielle suffer their worst nightmare. Dogan struggles from the outset, convinced he is never going to be able to carry out the task. With the help of the teacher, he manages to conquer his nerves and, to his huge surprise, makes it through the day.

Danielle decides to teach the kids about Princess Diana, which leads to considerable confusion among the kids when they put on their performance for the parents and the school at the end of the day.

It is the final week and just Dogan, Dina and Danielle remain, battling it out to become the most adult. They are set their toughest challenge yet when they are forced to each manage a flat renovation project.

To help the parents ascertain how much genuine progress their little cherubs have made over the previous four weeks, they enlist the help of professional lifecoach Matthew Stone.

The flats they make over are on behalf of youth charity Kids Company, who offer a one-off opportunity for vulnerable young people to improve their living conditions. They have one day to complete the project, and 1,000 pounds for materials and furniture.

Dogan throws himself wholeheartedly into the task, whereas Dina struggles to manage her team of ten volunteers. Danielle hands over the reins to her mentor Rene halfway through the day, relinquishing any responsibility for team leadership.

The overall winner is then announced.
