In A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms the starring cast has at least 8 names in the first episode alone. But most of those were added to TVMaze as recurring guest cast. Please explain why it was done that way? I just want to make sure this was done right going forward.

None of the names are prefixed with Starring, Guest Starring, Recurring, etc. But it starts with the end credits saying Based on "The Hedge Knight" by George RR Martin. Then two names appear without any context, then some producer credits appear, then six more names without any context. These eight names without context seem to be the regular cast as these are the names listed in the official press releases. Then more co-producer and other crew credits. Finally you see "Cast in order of appearance" with several more names but none of them are what look like regular cast members. Yet still they're credited as "cast" not as featuring, recurring, or guest or co stars.

Wouldn't that mean that everyone should be added as primary cast and not recurring? At least the cast names that are given in this official press release should be since they are never said to be less than primary cast.

UK shows have different rules. But this production is based in the USA and there are no opening credits to speak of anyway.

Thanks

Hello!

I am wanting to add the Gundam Seed Destiny TV Movies to TVMaze. I sought approval from forum (granted) and have submitted a request for addition, but it was brought up later in the post that it might be better to submit as Show Specials under Gundam Seed Destiny. It seems like I can edit this myself and would like to if possible, versus making extra work for people. This is my first time using TVMaze so I don't want to do things poorly.

I believe that the TV movies would constitute: Significant Special. I am assuming I want to keep them as Season 1, as they are the Season 1 re-cut and re-released, and not them making a Season 2 out of the movies. I just want to make sure that doing so won't cause issues?

Thank you

ED: Okay! I now can post links, fixed post to have links so its easier for folk to parse. If anyone wants to tackle their additions I won't say no, but I would be happy to do so myself as long as I don't make a mess of things :)

Indeed I did. Thanks, Rose! :)

Dpratt, I was very polite and gave you a very thorough answer on my talk page where you contacted me. As I already explained, per our policy, the on-screen info takes precedence over any other info including press releases. On screen, the cast is divided into three distinct groupings which correspond to "Starring", "Guest Stars" and "Co-Stars". The groups are separated by members of the crew. We cannot go against policy or on-screen credits just because an older press release groups all actors together under "cast" (not even "main cast" or "principal cast" or "regular cast"). It's not uncommon for press releases to include incorrect information. Take this press release for example which refers to the episode "Chief" of FOX's show Doc. It lists a bunch of actors under the general term "Cast". On screen, some of these actors are credited as "Starring", other actors are credited as "Guest Stars" (like Sarah Allen), and others are credited as "Co-Stars" (like Kintaro Akiyama). There are other mistakes in that press relase as well. The characters played by Jake Epstein and Vanessa Smythe are listed as Tim Olsen and Beth Olsen respectively, but on screen there mentioned as Tim Stern and Beth Stern. There are dozens of press releases like that issued by all major US networks, cable networks and streamers that use the general term "cast" without differentiating the actors into starring, guest star or co-stars. That's why we always follow the on-screen data.

As I already told you, if the next episodes of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms list the actors in a different manner, we can revisit the issue. For now what we have is correct. I hope that settles this once and for all.
