5 Essential Reasons You Should Add Disney+ to your List of Streaming Apps

527417.jpgA new and exciting streaming service will be dropping on November 12 in the US and Canada and November 19 in Australia and New Zealand. It will be the new streaming home for your Disney, Marvel, Star Wars and Pixar movies and TV shows. With new TV shows and movies in the pipeline for Marvel and Disney, now is the perfect time for Disney to branch out into their own service. Prices in the US will be $7 a month whereas in Australia and New Zealand it will cost between $9-$10.

For this article, I'll concentrate on the TV shows on offer. When Disney+ first drops, the biggest show on offer, and one I am very excited about, will be The Mandalorian. Jon Favreau is writing and producing. Jon, who you may know, was the director of the recent remake The Lion King, which was a blockbuster hit for Disney. It stars Game of Thrones' Pedro Pascal as the title Mandalorian. It will also star Giancarlo Esposito, who you may remember from Breaking Bad and the recent Jett. The Mandalorian is set between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens and is the first-ever live-action Star Wars series and will run for eight episodes.

Disney+ will also be using the old school method on one episode per week on some of their shows, contrary to other streaming apps.

Also available on Day One is every episode of The Simpsons which should keep you busy. Some of the other miscellaneous TV highlights coming to Disney+ at launch include all episodes of Kim Possible, Malcolm in the Middle, That's So Raven, both the old and the new DuckTales series, One Strange Rock, and Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars: The fan-favorite animated series will return for a final 12-episode run, set to premiere sometime during Disney +'s first year. Star Wars: the old Clone Wars and Rebels animated series will be in the library at launch.

There will be plenty of new Marvel shows that are in development which will be rolled out on Disney+. They include:

The Falcon and Winter Soldier: Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan will reprise their roles as the MCU heroes Falcon and Winter Soldier in this live-action series, set to premiere in November 2020.

WandaVision: Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany will reprise their roles as the MCU heroes Scarlet Witch and The Vision in this live-action series, set to premiere in Spring 2021

Loki: Tom Hiddleston will reprise his role as the MCU hero/villain Loki in this live-action series, set to premiere in Spring 2021.

Marvel's What If…?: The first animated MCU series will follow the mold of the comic series of the same name, telling alternate versions of the stories fans know from the main films. For instance: What if Peggy Carter, not Steve Rogers, got the super-serum that turned her into Captain America? The series is expected to premiere in Summer 2021

Hawkeye: Jeremy Renner reprises his role in this live-action series in which the Avengers' resident archer teaches Kate Bishop, a young woman who takes up the Hawkeye mantle in the comics, the superhero ropes. Hawkeye will premiere in Fall 2021.

Also recently announced at the D23 expo were:

Ms. Marvel: The fan-favorite, Pakastani-American hero Kamala Khan is making the long-awaited jump to live-action. Disney announced the upcoming Ms. Marvel series at D23, and Kevin Feige implied the character would eventually appear in theatrical MCU films after getting her start on the small screen. No release date or casting information is available, but Bisha K. Ali will serve as showrunner.

She-Hulk: Very little is known about this series, which Disney announced at D23, but Bruce Banner's cousin, the super-strong, super-smart, green lawyer, Jennifer Walters, aka She-Hulk, will have a live-action series on Disney+ at some point.

Moon Knight: Disney announced a series about this Marvel character — a mercenary who is empowered and given a second chance at life after he becomes the avatar of an ancient Egyptian god — at D23.

I am so excited for all the content that will be rolling out on Disney+ because they will continue the Star Wars stories and the MCU in the TV world. Are you looking forward to Disney+ and looking at adding it along with your other streaming services? Feel free to comment your opinion and if you have any questions, let me know.
