FOX managed a couple of scripted premieres last week. Both The Resident and Prodigal Son lost two tenths off their season finales. Call Me Kat dropped another tenth on its regular night. Last Man Standing was even.

The CW premiered Trickster, another Canadian import, last week to low numbers. Considering the show wasn't picked up by CBC, don't get too attached. The second season premiere of Two Sentence Horror Stories was also less than stellar. Here's hoping the network has better luck with its scripted dramas which start premiering this week.

ABC premiered Call Your Mother last week as part of its Wednesday comedy block. Opening numbers were soft, as it was the lowest program for the night on the network. The Rookie lost a tenth off its premiere. Having game shows for a lead-in on Sunday night is not doing the series any favors. Celebrity Wheel of Fortune gained a tenth along with The Hustler. The Chase lost a tenth off its premiere.

NBC feasted on football again last week. The Peacock also saw the return of its Chicago shows after a two-month hiatus. Chicago Med and Fire were even, Chicago PD gained a tenth. Mr Mayor was even with its numbers last week in its regular time slot. Good news for fans, it didn't lose anything. Time will tell if that number will be enough for a renewal. Superstore was even with its last episode in November. Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist lost a ten of its premiere. Considering it was a surprise renewal anyway, things are not looking good.

It will be interesting to see how COVID issues help or hinder shows as we head into Spring. As with the uncertainty of last season, it's possible some of the marginal programs that would usually end up on the dust heap, may see a reprieve as networks try to fill schedules. Will shows like Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist or For Life manage to squeak another season?

I'm going to give Walker a chance too. With Batwoman, I kinda like how they wrote Ruby Rose leaving the show. It'll be interesting as the season goes to see how Javicia Leslie does as the new Batwoman. Hopefully they won't go too insane with soap box messaging that Supergirl has tended to go way overboard on in past seasons.
I haven't been impressed with any of the 30 minutes comedies for at least five years or more. They all just strike me as shallow and inane. Shrug.
I was a fan of Supernatural, so I'll give Walker a go, and Legends of Tomorrow when it comes back. Not sure of the others. So many of the DC shows have decided they need to have A MESSAGE, and kind forget things like plot while they are beating us over the head with it.
I'm giving Call Your Mother's next episode a chance, if it isn't much better than the pilot, I might not watch anymore. I'm looking forward to CW's shows starting this upcoming week.
