Sabrina J. Spellman

Sabrina is the starring character of this situation comedy and is very loosely based off of the Archie Comics character. Additionally, this version of Sabrina went through changes from the pilot movie to the regular series, and then again in an attempt from being canceled, and then yet again after the attempt failed, and again several more times on its new network, and then again after her two aunts left the series. Her background is depicted as being part witch, part mortal, not unlike Tabitha Stephens, also Sabrina is strictly forbidden from visiting her biological non witch mother because it would reveal The Family Secret to others. Her father sends her to live with his sisters and Sabrina's aunts Hilda and Zelda, the latter offering whatever counsel she can to keep both Sabrina and her mother out of trouble. The first occasion occurred when Zelda was temporarily made young again, while the second occasion has Zelda returning from The Other Realm as a giant candle in order for Sabrina's biological mother to see each other again. However, Sabrina walked out of the wedding anyways, and Sabrina's long time lover Harvey Kinkle knew that Sabrina is a witch, yet is never punished. Sabrina, The Teenage Witch has numerous elements from the Bewitched franchise, and because of the numerous strict rules to follow, also inspired Fairly Oddparents, and because of its academic setting, is remnicient of Clarissa Explains It All. It also made several movies and spin offs of its own, some of them animated, and supposed to be canon to the ABC & WB version of it. Sabrina is in high school near her 16th birthday, and initially unaware that she is a witch, nor her cat Salem can talk clearly. Her classmates, some of them enemies, suspect that something is unusual about her, with the Witches Council dismissing it as typical school classmates quarreling. Her classmates leave in the middle of the series, some of them are explained while others are not. Harvey Kinkle appears in most of the episodes of any season. By this time Sabrina attempts to solve The Family Secret. Season 4 has a revised opening sequence and theme song containing partial lyrics (including "Secret...".), both of which are highly organized and more relaxed. It was canceled anyways and moved to The WB where Sabrina attends University. The opening and closing segments changed drastically back to a different pop rock song with full lyrics (including "I'm out on my own now and I like the way it feels!".) and initially with Hilda and Zelda admiring her success. Sabrina meets Morgan and Roxie, graduates, gets a job at her aunts' coffee shop, and also at a magazine, and gets reengaged to Harvey. The issues regarding Sabrina's parents are not resolved.
