Born in Colwyn Bay, North Wales, Timothy Dalton left Herbert Strutt Grammar School at age 16, touring as a leading member of Michael Croft's National Youth Theater. He returned to study at RADA, leaving just before completing his two years to join the Birmingham Repertory Theatre. His extensive work in the classics led to his film debut as King Philip II of France in the 1968 film The Lion in Winter and a recurring role on the 1967 series Sat'day While Sunday.
